Despite the rain and inclement weather, Pasig City conducted its 10th Citywide Shake Drill in line with the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month and Metro Manila Shake Drill 2018. Led by Mayor Bobby C. Eusebio with former Mayor Dra. Maribel A. Eusebio and the city council, spearheaded by the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in cooperation with the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and various Medical Assistance Team, a simultaneous Special Security and Earthquake drill exercises were executed at the Capitol Commons in barangay Oranbo. The Special Security Drill scenario featured a terrorist attack at Unimart Shopping Center involving 3 armed men shooting down 30 civilians holding in hostage at least 20 more civilians. This covered the launching of “Project Vanguard” wherein private and public partnership to enhance the skills capabilities of private security personnel to augment the Police in mitigating a crisis, and the City Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) wherein private partnership with doctors and nurses were designed to provide medical care during disasters and unusual event. Meanwhile, at exactly 3pm, sirens were heard as a signed of earthquake drill. Extrication of supposed victim trapped, injured civilian, fire suppression and rope rescuing were conducted as part of earthquake drill scenarios. As highlight, Pasig City showed off its new acquired Aerial Platform 70 meter articulated Fire Truck ladder, the highest in the country, performing its advance rescue capability.
